About this page

When I got a 3.85kW set of solar panels installed, I was curious to see how well they would work in various seasons and weather conditions. I used the hardware from https://github.com/dkroeske/emon-server running on a Raspberry Pi to log the data, but wrote my own backend in python to collate it. The graphs are generated in your browser by plotly.js.

I found the site suncalc.net useful in visualising dawn and dusk. The house is in Edinburgh, and the panels are pointing roughly southwest, so peak generation is achieved slightly after solar noon.
